add more log notifications to key parts of the app

also make sure that all your log functions require a correlation id.
and also remove unnecessary cruft from the log functions (papertrail duplicates most of the stuff you add to the logs already)
and also create a generic error logger that dumps the stack trace, displays the message and error code etc when you pass an error object.
